Ace Adventure - canoeing and kayaking in Aviemore and the Strathspey

Canoeing on the River Findhorn, Scotland

You Said...

Just arrived back home after our wonderful holiday in Scotland and it is raining!! Just wanted to thank you once again for your kindness to both my wife and I. You went over and above the call duty. We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip and hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

Inflatable Duckies and Funyaks

What - Wild - Grade 2 (3), 1/2 Day, £45.00 per person, Trip Fact Sheet

For those who wish to get a little more hands on with their paddle sports Ace Adventure offer single and double person inflatable craft for negotiating the rapids of our best loved rivers. Perhaps you would enjoy the independence of controlling your own destiny, or want to progress towards using an enclosed whitewater kayak or hard shell canoe? If so this is for you. Inflatable duckies provide stability similar to a raft and the manoeuvrability of a kayak. We’re not saying it’s super easy, but with guidance and a watchful eye from our skilful staff you’ll find the rewards of negotiating whitewater all by yourself truly incredible.

Inflatable Canoe we call a Funyak, River Findhorn

Where
Aviemore - Rivers Spey and Findhorn - The river used is determined on a variety of factors, but most importantly the water level. We make a decision on the day to make sure you get to go on the best section available on the day. Whatever the venue you can be assured of a thrilling day set amongst the beautiful highland moors and forests. If conditions are right you will be privileged to a decent of the middle Findhorn known as the River of beauty with the beast in the form of the dragons tooth and carnage corner!

Aberfeldy - River Tay - The trip begins on placid waters just upstream from Aberfeldy, an ideal environment to master the basics of river running. Several kilometres of flowing water through the beautiful, wide valley of the Tay bring you towards the testing stuff. From the half way point you will have to navigate numerous class II and III rapids, eventually culminating in the longest and most continuous whitewater of the day, Grandtully slalom course. Just make sure you avoid Magnetic Rock!

When
The best time of year for Canoes and Kayaks is from Spring through to the end of Autumn. Given that you will get wet often with this activity the winter months are a little on the cold side however in saying that if you are mad enough to do a winter run then we are mad enough to take you!

How
So what are you waiting for? Check out the descriptions for each of the rivers and Book online or Call 01479 810 510.

Why
There is nothing more satisfying than mastering a new and exciting activity. Learning the skills to negotiate whitewater in your own craft opens up a world of possibilities. The feeling of independence is incredible. Combined with this, travelling on a natural watercourse is the best way to view wildlife and often the only way you will ever be able to see amazing gorges and appreciate their beauty. Duckies will leave you suitably satisfied and exhausted.

As described by Ratty in the Wind in the Willows, “There is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
