International Raffting Federation
The International Rafting Federation (IRF) is a non-profit non-government organisation formed in 1997 which is dedicated to developing rafting at all recreational, competition and commercial levels. There are currently countries represented by the International Rafting Federation.

The IRF is well represented being made up from a board of directors from all over the world from countries such as Costa Rica, South Africa, Germany, USA, Czech Republic, Australia, Denmark, Russia, Japan and Mauritius.

The International Rafting Federation holds the World Rafting Championships (WRC). The next WRC is being held in Bosnia & Herzegovina in May 2009. The 2007 overall winners were Brazil with the Czech Republic coming second and Japan in third place. There are three main disciplines; the Sprint, the Slalom and the Downriver Race.

The IRF also is key to the development of Guide Training and Education. There is an IRF Award Scheme that seeks to provide a means of recognising guides, trip leaders and instructors under an internationally accepted standard.
