Dear Jim, I would like to thank you both for a great day out, I haven't laughed so much in years, I also can't believe we have wasted lots of trips to the Cairngorms in the past without trying kayaking or white water rafting with your company, it was great value for money and we will be booking more trips in the future, I can't wait. I was also a bit concerned my deafness would be a barrier, as you know without my Cochlear implant I am almost totally deaf, but you both made me feel relaxed and were very helpful and understanding, it was also a great help having my implant stored in the waterproof box, so I could keep tuned in till the last moment before launch. The River Orchy can be the best white water rafting to be found in the country and with a road running along the course of the section rafted easy access makes for a safe experience with the ability for those not brave enough to take on the river the opportunity to watch the action.
Due to the River Orchy being only 12 miles in total length and situated close to its source, Loch Tulla the river requires recent rainfall to be at an optimum level for rafting and unfortunately does not hold its water, going up and down quickly. Too much water and its too dangerous, too little water and you simply can’t get down.
Where
Hidden in Argyll and Bute, Loch Tulla lies 2 miles North of the Bridge of Orchy which is where we start from.
Travelling distances from Oban - 38 miles, Fort William – 40 miles, Perth – 64 miles, Glasgow – 68 miles, Edinburgh – 93 miles, Inverness – 105 miles and Aberdeen – 151 miles.
When
Trips are run on the River Orchy from October through to March subject to water levels. In the event that the river cant be run we do Duckies on the River Awe and Bridge Swinging for your adrenaline fix.
