Outdoor Adventure Activities on the River Tummel:

Note: Minimum age for this trip is strictly 16 years

This trip takes place just outside of Pitlochry, a beautiful town in Highland Perthshire. Pitlochry is traditionally a tourist town, which is no surprise given the vast amount of natural beauty on offer. This dates back to the Victorian period when the Great North road was built through the town to allow military access to the Highlands. This had a ripple effect on the local economy as there was a need for new inns to cater for the increased travelers passing through the town. Thus cementing the town as a popular tourist destination, which remains today.

Before or after your trip on the Tummel, you can enjoy one of the many hiking or bike trails through the surrounding forests, and might even catch sight of deer or the native red squirrel. The Queen’s view point offer’s one of the best panoramic views in Scotland too, looking out over Loch Tummel, and if you’re lucky you can see as far as the mountains surrounding Glencoe. For a small town Pitlochry as a surprisingly large choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes on offer to suit all taste buds!
